Last Updated tips and tricks for Treasure Isle

This is mainly just a list of playing tips and tricks that I've discovered through trial and error. It makes gameplay a bit easier to handle, and I find I have less complaints. I know this game has bugs, but if you play smarter instead of thinking everything is broken, it'll be a much more enjoyable experience.


1. Those quests that want you to find all the treasures, but when you do it doesn't give you credit for it .. I find that you have to be standing on the island, with a treasure count of zero in order for it to activate. So don't finish the whole island. Keep one square not dug that you know doesn't have a treasure in it. Then when all other requirements are met, you go to the island, and viola. completed quest.

2. This also works for those pesky treasure chests that are behind things. Keep one tile open, go home, come back, complete the island if you like. I prefer to leave one square open on all my islands to that I can "preview" whats there. It tells me which treasures, it tells me what rocks or plants, what tools, and if i need those items. I finish it and play it again.

3. When digging underwater, as soon as you land on an island it starts the timer, so I dig from wherever I land, a straight line to the farthest edge of the island, then I dig back towards the starting place. The main reason I do this is to max out my digging time. you can walk wherever you want on the island without digging, so if I go back to use an oxygen bottle, I walk to the furthest dug up area, wait til my character gets there, then dig a square and use a bottle. that way I haven't lost any time walking around.

4. Those genies lamp/port loyal things that need "crew members" to help? they aren't like the other crew requests. one neighbor can fill more than one spot, so I post an "ask friends" two of three together in a row. that way if I have a friend who is responding they will fill two or three spots at a time. They also overlap. so say you need a crew of five people, you have two friends you are gonna respond and you post six times. That fills one crew plus one place on another object in that same map. So you don't lose that crew member. He just joins a different crew, and you're one step closer to completing it.

5. I've noticed that my send/receive material feed limit is actually more like seven than ten. so I work with my neighbors to request things they also need. if we all need fire, dye, and aqua vitae, we will each request one material 2 times. that way we all get six materials, and all three of the things we need.

6. Those "ask friends" requests where you an only ask each neighbor for one thing? they time out every four hours from when you request, not when they answer, so you can potentially request things 6 times a day. Same with the free gifts. So you can send gifts 6 times a day. And the people who accept can send you thank you gifts six times a day. again, work with your neighbors.

7. When someone does send you a free gift, if you use the face book interface. it'll ask if you want to send a thank you gift to that one person. But if you use the zynga interface you can send a thank you gift to any of your friends and neighbors. But make sure you send out your free gifts first, otherwise the person you thank will be counted against you. Just cancel the zynga interface without accepting anything. send your gifts, then click on the interface again.

Game Tips and Strategies

• Be a great Neighbor – It is imperative that you have as many Neighbors as possible from your Facebook friend list. Friends can gift you with food items which allow you to dig. Once you are out of energy you can’t play the game until it replenishes. If you have a large number of friends gifting you then you will level up much faster. Neighbors also gift items to you that you can use to decorate your island or which you can sell back for extra coins. Be sure to send out fruit and gift neighbors daily so they will return the favor.

• Use the gifts your Neighbors send to you to decorate your Island at first. Do not invest all of your money in decorating your Island as you will need it to purchase tools for digging. There are different  tools for different digging obstacles. You can also sell the gifts to afford the digging tools if you choose.
• Keep an eye on your energy meter when digging. When you are running low on energy dig only in areas of land with no rocks, trees or plants as they cost the least amount of energy to dig at.
• Keep an eye on the live feeds. Treasure Isle offers a lot of bonuses and the ability to share them with others. Each time you click on a live feed you will receive 100 coins. You will also be able to ask for items you need to complete collections, gems and power packs via the live feeds.
• Purchase dynamite one stick at a time to save money as you won’t need it until you are past level 10 and toward the higher levels.
• Visit your Neighbors daily to collect coins and gems. If you are limited on time try to visit neighbors from each gem color so you have a supply of all colors.
• Keep fruit planted in your Garden plots at all times. Be sure you can harvest it before the crop withers and dies or you will lose the money you invested. (See Garden Plots below for more information)
• TIP - When you start to dig at a new Island go to the Tiki Statue Gates first and give it a Gem to open passage. There is no energy expended for this and you gain 5 XP points for each one you give a gem to. If you are close to leveling up this could get you to the next level faster.
• TIP - Keep an eye on the game’s energy meter as you are using fruit from your backpack to fill it up. If you have a total capacity for 110 energy and you are at 108 and need 2 more energy points to fill the meter back up to 110 use fruit that has 1 or 2 points. Do not use a Mango which is 15 points as you will forfeit the 13 points. Basically anything over your maximum limit will be lost.
• Each time you use a gem to gain access to a portion of an Island you will gain 5 XP. Keep this in mind when you are trying to level up.
• TIP - If you find you are short on Gems and you need say for example, Blue gems look at the bottom of your screen and visit your Neighbors that have blue gems next to their names. Eventually you will find a Neighbor that has a blue gem available for you. This is faster than searching the live feeds but you can also search the live feeds for gems in this situation if you choose.
• TIP - Be sure to visit at least ten of your neighbors each day. The first 10 Neighbors you visit will earn you 20 Coins and 5 XP each which is 200 coins and 50 XP. Any Neighbor you visit after 10 will earn you 5 Coins and 1 XP.
• TIP - If you are past level 6 and out of energy and you have a comfortable amount of gold coins you may want to consider looking for other Islands you can dig at that have rocks that need to be blasted with Dynamite. Once you reach level 6 you will unlock dynamite for purchase) It does not expend any energy to blow up rocks and you will earn 5 XP for each time you do it. The dynamite costs 250 coins each so be sure you can afford this without hurting your future game moves.
• TIP – Each Tiki Statue has a treasure chest under it which guarantees you will get at least 5, 15, or 50 XP from it depending on the size of the chest you find. (It costs 5 energy to dig) If you can, start digging at these Tiki Statues as this will help you to level up faster.
• Keep an eye on the messages that show up after each dig. You will see hints such as “Treasure Very Close” If you are short on energy these messages can help you decide how best to use your last bit of energy.
• TIP - When you are digging and running low on energy keep in mind that you could dig up fruit and earn a few more digs. Play until you use up every bit of possible energy. The clock will give you 1 energy point every 5 minutes so you will have a long wait before you can dig at full energy again. The best thing to do is ask your Neighbors to send you energy and work aggressively to get as much energy as possible throughout the day.

Ways to earn Energy

• Have your Neighbors gift it to you by requesting it.
• Keep your Neighbor numbers high to increase the odds you will receive gifts daily.
• Grow fruit in your Garden Plots.
• Wait until the energy meter replenishes itself.

Features Coming Soon to Treasure Isle

• Watch for Game Updates as Mayan Isles will soon be added to the Game with 8 New Islands to dig and explore.
• Two of the Mayan Islands will need to be purchased so save your coins.
• Bug Spray is introduced into your Tools and you will be zapping bugs in between digs.
• Expect 50 more levels to be added to the game soon.

Gems/Gem Trees/Gems from Live Feeds

• Each Player in Treasure Isle is given one Gem Tree on their Home Island. It will either have Orange, Red, Green, Blue, or Purple Gems on it.
• The tree yields one Gem every 24 hours for you and your Neighbors can collect from it once a day as well.
• You will need the Gems in all different colors to get past certain Tiki Statues in the game.
• The Tiki Statue will require 1 to 5 gems for you to pass.
• You may find Gems while you are digging and they will move into your inventory in your backpack.
• If you see a live feed post offering a free gem be sure to click on it. The more gems you can save up the easier you will progress through the game.
• TIP - Look at the bottom of your screen and you can see your neighbors and what kind of gem tree they have on their island. If you need a specific gem color you can make sure to visit those neighbors first.
• You can also request gems if you are running low. You will be prompted if your Neighbor’s or your gem tree is empty.
• Keep an eye on the live feeds for free gems.

Treasure Chests

• As you dig for Treasure you will find Treasure chests at certain spots in the Island.
• TIP – Look at the upper right of the game screen and you will see how many treasure chests are buried in the Island you are currently digging at.
• There are 3 sizes and values of Treasure Chests:
  • Small Treasure Chest – 5 XP
  • Medium Treasure Chest – 15 XP
  • Large Treasure Chest – 50 XP
• Click on a Chest to open in. The item inside will be part of a collection and you will see it in the lower right hand corner of the game screen.
• NOTE – If you forget to click on a treasure chest or leave an island before you opened a chest it will move into the chest at the top right with the “?” on it. Click on it to claim all treasure.

Collections/Trading Collections for Reward

• As you dig for treasure you will find treasure chests that have collectible items in them. Each Island has 1 to 3 collections for you to complete.
• Once you find the 5 items in a collection you can trade it in for a large cash and XP bonus by clicking on “Trade in” when prompted.
• Be sure to click on any chests you uncover so you get credit for the item in it.
• If you miss a chest click on the gift icon in the upper left of the screen that has a “?” on it. This is where all unclaimed treasure goes.
• There are currently 22 Collections but this will increase as the game will have 100 levels soon.

Monkey Palace

Monkey Palace is the best bang for your buck in Treasure Isle, I have found. It's rewards are a lot better in terms of helping you to level faster in the future than the Fire God Mountain.  It only contains seven levels and most of the floors are small so that you can usually find the treasure within five digs (max) and two digs (min). Sometimes you get lucky, like I did yesterday, and click the tile with the treasure on it on the first dig and that's even better.  If you get five on each level that is 35 digs which counts as Gold and the best rewards!

Not only can you receive up to seven special monkey treasure chests on each level that cost 750 coins each but you get the official treasure box you dug up on each level as well.  This greatly increases the chances of you mastering collections. 

To help yourself out, put the Banana Split,  the Venezuela Jones and the "It's the People's" or any other 250XP collection items in your wishlist constantly so that your friends will send you those items.  Those three collections offer you a banana bunch (3) for the Banana Split collection, 1 permanent energy point increase for Venezuela Jones provided you "Use" him and put him in the water next to your island and 250 XP for the "It's the People's" monkey troupe.   You will want to constantly put the 250 XP collection items in your wishlist especially if you use the wishing well on a regular basis as you have a greater chance to get those rare items!

At level 4 mastery of "It's the People's" you and whoever clicks on the SHARE link when the popup comes up will receive 20 fire digs!  You can also receive the same reward (20 fire digs) for trading in level 4 of "Tiki Ultra Rare"

After level 4 mastery of each collection you only get the experience, not additional reward.

Before you enter the palace, you need to have four (4) golden tickets and you should have at least 3 bananas in your inventory to bribe the monkey guards. If you do not have bananas, request them or see if you have any island cash you can spare, they cost 2 a pop.

Usually when I am going through my FB To Do list each day, I will go into the app to send golden tickets to all my friends FIRST, then go see if I have any requests.  By sending a ticket, your friend can send you a thank you gift of the same kind. Everyone makes out! Assuming you have a lot of friends, you can rack them up pretty quickly.

When you first enter the palace, do not click willy-nilly, look at the whole board as a whole and figure out which tiles you can
click, the least amount, to cover all the tiles in the treasure hints.

For the first level the treasure is almost always near where you materialized.  As you get toward the end, if your digs are
approaching 40, I have found that the treasure box is almost always in the first six blocks right where you materialize.  Do NOT click the monkey guards to bribe them until you have searched the first squares that cover all six as you will waste them because if you find the treasure, the guards disappear with no banana cost to you.

Assuming you get under 35 digs, you can get island cash and a banana tree on your home isle. I have six trees by playing Monkey Palace. The treasures are random so you want to get the least amount of digs possible to get the gold rewards.

Getting Fruit / Golden Tickets / Etc From Non-Friends

You can also request items from people by including your own customized link and telling people what to send you specifically.

An example of this would be:

If you click that link it will bring up a page that says "Send to Tara" underneath each gift. The way to change it to your account is to go to your profile, get the last ten digits at the end of the URL in the address bar, then take that number and change all the numbers after 1%3A in the link above to yours. So you would replace "0123456789" which is my account to your account number.


The beauty of Treasure Isle as opposed to other Zynga games is you do NOT need to be someone's neighbor in the game or FB friend to send or receive something from them!  The only thing you cannot do is see their walls because they are not your friends (if they have them blocked to just friends) and benefit from the rewards they find that are friends only in their feeds.

I received thirty golden tickets in under fifteen minutes one day just by sending them to whoever requested it and they returned it. This saves you time adding anyone and getting frustrated if they don't appear in your neighbors list.

I believe you can send gifts every four hours so keep this in mind to maximize what you're receiving.  Send what you want to get back, not what you think someone needs.

To post what you need, click comment and make sure you include the link to your profile.  Do this for every post you see and every day.  You can get an unlimited amount of gifts this way.  Just be sure that you are constantly checking your backpack. The limit to gifts is 250 but some users report that if you have over 100 gifts in your backpack, they sometimes have trouble receiving gifts.

Learn Trading in Treasure Isle

You may have more than one item in the collection, you can Trade in the treasure more than one time, thus have more experience points and of course more coins..

You can use the wishing well to wish the items you need, it uses -25 points of your Energy, but still you can gain cash from it.

Treasure Isle's Cheats & Tips: Six easy ways to get ahead

Treasure Isle, the new Facebook game from the makers of FarmVille, puts you in the boots of an explorer hunting for buried treasure across a series of tropical islands. This game combines harvesting aspects of FarmVille with a more adventure-filled theme, and that seems to be a killer combo -- attracting roughly 20 million players in a matter of weeks. Here's six ways to get your hands on Treasure Isle's fortunes as quickly as possible.


1. Plant Watermelons

Your home island will feature two small plots of farmable land when you first begin the game -- you'll have a choice of four different fruit seeds to plant. You'll get the best return on your time by planting Watermelons. We've been finding that we play Treasure Isle in very short bursts, using up all of our energy hunting for treasures in one go, replenishing with any fruit we found, and then depleting our energy again.
Bear with us as we do a little rough math -- the energy cap starts off at 100 and increases only a little with each level. Since energy replenishes at 1 point every five minutes, it'll take just over eight hours to completely fill up again, which means in about eight hours, we can come back and have another short play session. And what do you know, Watermelons take eight hours to mature -- perfect.

2. Ask friends for missing items in your collections

This is crucial, moreso than in other Facebook games that you may play. In Mafia Wars, you can complete item collections by redo-ing the same tier of missions that grant those items until you finally complete the set. In Treasure Isle, you can't return to an island once you've dug/searched every grid -- this means that if you weren't lucky enough to complete the Hulu Outfit set on Guarded Shores, you won't be able to find those items yourself.

Luckily you can list up to six items at once in your Wish List and ask friends to send you any extras they may find on their treasure hunts. Complete collections yield a massive amount of gold coins, so they're well worth the time invested in tracking down each item.

3. Don't buy trees/plants or gems in the store

Unlike trees in Farmville, Treasure Isle's store-bought trees don't produce any goods, experience points or money. They're purely for decoration.

The trees that *are* important are the Gem trees that you'll find on your and your friends' islands. There is one per island, and the color gem that it bears is automatically decided for you when you first start playing Treasure Isle. Make sure you visit your friends' islands frequently to harvest gems, especially if theirs produces a different color gem than yours. You'll need an assortment of them to open gem gates later on in the game.


4. Buy tools as soon as you can

You'll find the Machete, Pickaxe, Dynamite and Bug Spray items in the 'Tools' section of the Store. While you're likely to be prompted to purchase each tool as you need them (Machete is needed to search for treasure in trees, for example), having them on hand boosts the chance that you'll find fruit or additional gold during the course of treasure hunting.

 5. Get 100% on each island

This should be a no-brainer, but in the event that you end up finding all of the treasures on each island before actually searching each grid -- don't stop! You'll get a major experience/gold bonus for completing the island itself, not to mention those last spots may hide fruits and other gold stashes. Energy points replenish eventually, so you have nothing to really lose by digging on those last few spots.


6. Add friends early and often.

We're not huge proponents of spamming non-gaming friends with invites/gift requests but in this case, having an extra friend around may mean more than just a handful of additional coins each day. Since, as mentioned earlier, each friend will be assigned a Gem tree, you'll be dependent on them to provide you the necessary Gems to unlock certain areas of later islands (unless of course you want to shell out real currency to purchase Gem packs). And of course, there's also the added bonus of XP and coins just for visiting daily.
